Reporting a wrong figure

Two things make a correction actionable, and with both of them it is usually fixed the same day: the page it is on, and the source you checked it against.

Every figure on this site is printed with the sentence it came from and a link to the document. That is deliberate, and it means a reader can tell the difference between two quite different problems: the site misread the source, or the source says something surprising. The first is a defect here. The second is not, and the page will say so more clearly instead.

Corrections that change a published figure are logged in public on the corrections page, with what was wrong and what fixed it, including the ones found before launch.

Privacy requests

Access, deletion, correction or opt-out requests go through this form too, with Privacy request chosen as the subject. There is very little to act on, which the privacy page sets out in full: no accounts, no newsletter, no advertising network, and analytics configured so that nothing is shared for cross-context behavioural advertising.

The address you write from is used to answer you and for nothing else. It is not added to a list, because there is no list.

Why there is no address printed

A mailto on a public page is harvested within days and the mailbox becomes unusable, which means genuine messages get lost among the rest. One form, one destination, and it is read.

The form sends a single message to one internal address and stores nothing on this site. There is no database behind it and no ticketing system.
